UCSF Study Shows Healthy Diet, Physical Activity and Good Sleep Help to Make the Body Resistant to Cancer

Telomeres are the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes that affect how quickly cells age. They protect our genetic data. As they become shorter, their structural integrity weakens and this shortening process is associated with aging, cancer, and a higher risk of death. 


A UCSF study followed 239 post-menopausal, non-smoking women for a year and showed that good habits of physical activity, healthy diet and sound sleep helped to decrease the amount of telomere shortening, even in the face of stressful events. A healthy, anticancer lifestyle is rewarding in many ways!
